Partner

Jay Specht has defended hundreds of individuals and entities against construction defect, personal injury, and product liability claims over the course of his 15-plus year career. He closely evaluates every aspect of a case, in an effort to identify suitable case resolution strategies.

Mr. Specht has significant experience with construction litigation, where he counsels developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers.

He assists clients with commercial, residential, and multi-unit property disputes at every stage of the pre- suit, negotiation, or litigation process. He is familiar with WRAP/OCIP/CCIP insurance policies and the challenges they present in California high rise construction projects.

Mr. Specht has given seminars to contractors and insurers regarding the California Builders “Right to Repair Act” (SB 800), claims handling practices, contract interpretation, and creative resolutions for construction defect claims. He has been a presenter with the San Diego County Bar Association, the West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar, and CLM’s Construction Law Seminar.
